PRESS RELEASE

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Chad Johnson (24) and Donald Felton (27), both of Taylorville, by the Kincaid Police Department, on charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material.

On July 17th, 2012, Kincaid Police Chief Richard Adams conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of Edwards and Garrison Streets in Bullpitt. During the course of the stop Chief Adams observed materials consistent with methamphetamine production. Members of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Illinois Enforcement Group (CIEG) responded to the scene and secured the materials. Both men where charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material and Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Manufacturing.

Investigation revealed that the individuals had in their possession approximately 256 grams of substance containing methamphetamine. Under Illinois statute: a person who participates in the manufacture of 100 or more grams but less than 400 grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine is guilty of a Class X felony, subject to a term of imprisonment of not less that 6 years and not more than 30 years, and subject to a fine not to exceed $100,000 or the street value of the methamphetamine whichever is greater.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Anyone with information pertaining to this, or any other crime, is requested to contact the Christian County Sheriff’s Office (824-4961), their local law enforcement agency or Christian County Crime Stoppers at (1-800-568-TIPS) or (824-9100)
