PRESS RELEASE

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Delbert Cox (43) of Pana on charges of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Manufacturing.

Mr. Cox was arrested on March 23rd, 2012 by members of the Central Illinois Enforcement Group (CIEG) with the assistance of the Illinois State Police, Methamphetamine Response Team and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. During the course of the investigation materials consistent with methamphetamine production were seized.

 When Christian County Deputies approached Mr. Cox in his vehicle an active meth lab was discovered. Mr. Cox was using the shake and bake method to produce the methamphetamine.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Cox had in his procession over 900 grams of substance containing methamphetamine. Under Illinois statute: a person who participates in the manufacture of 400 grams or more of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine is guilty of a Class X felony, subject to a term of imprisonment of not less that 15 years and not more than 60 years, and subject to a fine not to exceed $400,000 or the street value of the methamphetamine whichever is greater.

On March 24th Judge Paisley set bond on Mr. Cox charge at $200,000. Mr. Cox was released from the Christian County Correctional Center after posting $20,000 cash bond. A court date of April 12th at 10A.M. was set.

The investigation is continuing at this time.
