PRESS RELEASE

20 Machine Shed Burglaries in Christian County

Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp is requesting assistance from anyone with information in 20 machine shed burglaries that have occurred in Christian County over the pass two months.

Burglars are taking mostly copper wire and copper tubing from the sheds. The burglaries are occurring sometime between 11P.M and 6A.M. The burglaries have occurred all over the County, from one end to the other end. There are no suspects at the current time; it is believed that there are at least two or more suspects driving a pickup truck or large SUV.

Most of the copper wire has rubber coating insulation covering. To sell this, the suspect would have to burning off the insulation, which would cause large amounts of black smoke, similar to tires burning. If anyone observers a fire with a large amount of black smoke, please contact the Sheriff’s Office or any law enforcement agency.

Sheriff Kettelkamp believes that the burglars are driving through the County during the daytime identifying location, and then returning late at night or early in the morning to enter the machine sheds and steal the cooper. Please contact the Sheriff Office if you notice anyone out of the ordinary, or looking suspicious driving around the County.
